  • He was the first president to live in the White House.
  • He and his friend/enemy/friend, Thomas Jefferson, both died on July 4th, 1826.
  • He was one of three presidents not to attend the inauguration of his successor.  He was disappointed that he lost the election to Thomas Jefferson, and was grieving the death of his son, Charles.
  • He was one of two presidents to sign the Declaration of Independence.  Jefferson was the other.
  • He and his son, John Quincy Adams, were one of the two father and son pairs who both served as President.  George H. Bush and George W. Bush were the other pair.
